Prelude: The Divine Musicality of Nature
Prelude is a collection of paintings that explore reality as the orchestra of the Divine. The work is both an exploration and expression of the search for God in and as all things, and the intelligent pulse of life behind all form.
The exhibition is held at the Emily Carr House in Victoria — a fitting home, as Carr's own work was driven by the same thirst: to uncover and evoke God through the beauty and mystery of the world.
During the May 2nd opening event, Kayla will give an artist talk tracing the intellectual and spiritual journey behind the work — from the National Archives in Ottawa to the orchestra, Hazrat Inayat Khan (Sufi Mystic) and Emily Carr. Entry is by donation.
Location: Emily Carr House · 207 Government Street, Victoria, British Columbia.
Exhibition Dates: May 2–23, 2026.
Opening Event: Friday, May 2nd, 1–4pm Artist Talks: 2 & 3pm.

Overture 2
24×36” (1.5” profile)
Acrylic on Canvas
2026
Part of the Prelude collection, this piece is a floral equivalent to an Overture in orchestral music. An introductory piece that introduces themes to come, yet is a fully beautiful work of art in it’s own right. It is an ode to the fullness of early stages, and a removal of “full bloom” from the pedestal to appreciate new beginnings.

Lamentoso
16×20×1.5”
Acrylic on Canvas
2026
Part of the Prelude collection, this piece explores the beauty of sadness. Sadness can be a powerful energy to bring about a shift in experience. In search of refuge, it can turn our attention toward the sacred. The weight of the flower is what pulls it into the light. The title comes from the orchestral term which refers to music played in a sad, mournful manner.
