I painted this while contemplating the relationship between pleasure, expectation, and always looking for an end goal.
Drinking a coffee to GET more energy.
Eating chocolate to GET a feeling of happiness.
Being with a lover to GET that finish.
When constantly focusing on future ideas and the expectation of pleasure, we can prevent ourselves from sinking into the freshness and pleasure of each moment.
When we release all of that, dropping any sense of “should”, any timeline or claim to knowledge, an opening happens.
A tension we never even realized was there falls away and we are plunged into a state of pleasure, ease, and love that cannot be attained but is a result of removing everything that was blocking us from seeing it. Here, now.
